| Question |
| I have several small breed dogs and it would be easier to feed them all the same food. I came across a food called Best in Show using 'human-grade' ingredients. Is 'human-grade' premium dog food really the safest to feed your pets? Thank you. |
| Answer |
| The short answer is no.
"human grade" is NOT a legally defined term and should not be used in the marketing of pet foods.
There is no "grading" of ingredients and every product used in a pet food plant has to be legally designated suitable for pet foods. Use of this term "human grade" does not give any assurances of safety or nutritional value of the final product. Foods sold for humans consumption can still contain organisms that cause food poisoning. |
