Is a specific source of calcium and minerals provided?
A homemade food is almost never balanced in minerals, and an absolute
calcium deficiency is common. Unfortunately, cottage cheese, cheese,
and milk added in small quantities to homemade diets do not provide
adequate calcium.

Most diets require a specific major calcium
supplement. When the protein fraction equals or is greater than the
carbohydrate fraction, calcium carbonate is necessary. When the
protein fraction is less than the carbohydrate fraction, a
calcium-phosphorus supplementation is useful.
